If you’re in the market for a job, then you’ve probably been bombarded with lots of job interview tips from lots of people. These tips may have worked well for them and maybe they’ll work for you. But what if those tips don’t really suit you? What if you find yourself not following any of the tips that you were taught? If that’s the case, then you need to keep reading because in this article I’m going to tell you what to do when you don’t follow any of the job interview tips that you were given.

Part I: Job Interview Tips For the Unqualified

The first part of job interview tips I’m going to give you is to prepare ahead of time. Don’t try to prepare a two-hour speech for the interview just because you think an interviewer will like it. Most interviewers don’t have long attention spans. They have short attention spans and if you try to memorize everything you can about the company you’re applying to then you won’t be able to give an informative and prepared interview.

Part II of job interview tips I’m giving you is to research the companies you are applying to. Make sure you know everything about the company and what the competition is like. You want to be able to answer the typical interview questions that most companies ask as well as possible. Most people don’t think about this in their preparation but it is one of the most important part of preparing for the interview.

Part III of the job interview tips I’m going to give you is to avoid the common mistakes interviewers make. One mistake many people make is not having a clear cut idea of what they are applying for. Most interviewers will tell you during the interview that you need to come with a great resume. But what they don’t tell you is that your resume is not going to be read in the first place by the hiring manager.

So when an interviewer asks you what your focus is for the company, be honest. If you say you’re interested in the challenges of the position but the interviewer tells you seem like a young person who doesn’t seem like he has it together, he’s probably telling you to remove the youthful appearance from your resume. Being honest with interviewers is one of the most important part of job interview tips. If you seem like a young person who doesn’t know what he is doing, then you’re not going to get hired and it’s pretty much guaranteed that you won’t be given another interview either.

The last part of job interview tips I’ll give you is to not only create a great resume but to also make sure it is the absolute best job application you’ve ever created. This doesn’t mean that you should lie or stretch the truth on your resume, but it does mean that you should be upfront and honest with the hiring manager about all the information you present on the application. One way to do this is to include as much job history as you can on your resume but be very vague on your references. It’s a bad idea to list every single job you have held since high school because it seems like you’ve lied on your resume and the hiring manager is going to assume you’ve been lying the whole time.

All these tips can be applied to any type of job interviews. It might seem like I’m going to give you another set of job interview tips and that’s not necessarily the case. The best interview tips that you should follow is to simply relax and try to get hired. Ask questions if you need to and don’t worry too much about how you look or whether you sound professional. Once you get hired, you’ll discover that these job interview tips actually work and you’ll find yourself in an interview right away!
